Dictate on a Mac

Speech to Text Feature

Rumors have it that Siri will be coming to the Mac this year. Until then, you can still use one of the nicer features of the iPhone and iPad: Dictation. This feature is great for sending texts, entering notes, composing emails, and more.

Using the feature requires a one-time setup.

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Chose Dictation & Speech
  3. Set the options as shown below

Now all you need to do is press the Function Key (fn) twice to begin dictating. Talk slowly and clearly and you will have very good results.
